Paris - the home city of Urbankiz.
When Kizomba came to Europe, it was danced mostly on Ghetto zouk and Cola zouk music. Dance was attracting people with it’s simplicity and soul touching, inspiring music.
As Kizomba doesn’t have any specific pattern to keep on, dance gave freedom to express own musicality and create new figures. Dance was slowly, but constantly changing and getting new names - Kizomba Fusion, Kizomba French style, Kizomba Evolution, Kizomba 2.0 etc. As result in 2015 it got it’s new name – Urbankiz.

Song - Xeruta Urbankiz
by Dj Charley Raymdtc (feat. BrutoBeats)
There is no Urbankiz music as a genre. We dance it on Ghetto zouk, Tarraxinha, R&B, pop song remixes with a zouk rhythm, afro beats, afro pop, dancehall etc. Dancing on different kinds of music gives a variety of ways to express and as a result every dancer has their own style.
In Urbankiz we use all the same figures from Kizomba and Semba, but the way we walk is the key difference. Walking on the straight legs makes us more formed, our hips fixed and us result creates different posture, frame and connection with a partner. Music and doing the same figures in this new way changes completely the way how dance looks and feels.
