About Us
S-Dance was built on genuine passion. Tatjana and Juri have been dancing, learning and teaching together for over a decade, and every class reflects that.
We believe that dancing is the best way to keep body and mind healthy — and most importantly, to feel happy. The dances we teach are special in the way they connect us with music, with our partners and with ourselves.
We are based in Helsinki and specialize in social dances: Kizomba, Semba, Urbankiz and Tarraxo.

URBANKIZ

Urbankiz is a modern partner dance that evolved from Kizomba within urban dance culture. Born in Paris, it continues to develop as an open and ever-evolving style. It is danced to a wide range of rhythmic music influenced by Kizomba, Ghetto Zouk and electronic sounds, while also absorbing movements and techniques from Afro dances, hip-hop and Latin styles — making it one of the most versatile social dances today. The movement in Urbankiz is dynamic and rhythm-driven. Dancers combine smooth walking steps with sharp accents, pauses and detailed musical interpretation. Connection and communication between partners remain central, with movement created in real time in response to the music. Like Kizomba, Urbankiz is a social improvised dance — no choreography, no fixed partner. Just music, connection and creativity in a relaxed community atmosphere.
TARRAXO

Tarraxo is a modern partner dance that developed in Paris from Tarraxinha, evolving within the Urbankiz and Kizomba scene. It is strongly influenced by Konpa, Afro dances, popping and other urban movement styles. It is danced to slow, deep, bass-heavy music with a strong focus on rhythm, texture and musical detail. The movement is grounded and controlled — built on body isolations, weight transfers, subtle vibrations and precise interpretation of the music. Tarraxo is a highly expressive social dance where connection between partners is created through tension, control and responsiveness rather than large movements. Danced without choreography, it is an improvised dance where partners explore the music together in a focused and creative atmosphere.
KIZOMBA

Kizomba is a smooth, close partner dance that originated in Angola, danced to slow, rhythmic music with a strong steady beat and a deep emphasis on connection. Rather than big or fast movements, Kizomba focuses on walking steps, body control and musical interpretation — making it feel calm, grounded and deeply connected. One partner leads, the other follows, creating a shared flow that adapts to the music in real time. Kizomba is a social dance — not choreography-based. It's danced at social events where people improvise freely and dance with different partners in a warm, community-focused atmosphere.
